Essential for the mom on the go! Dec 07, 2009 OK, I've read the other reviews so I had to put in my own recommendation. Please know, I had two other children before I bought this, so I pretty much knew that my babe was not going to suffocate in this sling - LOL! I also had (and still have) the baby bjorn, which is another great carrier, but by no means meant to be used in the same way. This is a sling. In a baby bjorn when the babe is tiny, you have to keep propping up the babes head, in the sling, they can sleep naturally, and they do because it really imitates the womb environment. If you intend to nurse, which I did at every function I needed to, it conceals you so well, people have NO idea what you are doing. NONE. I laugh when I look back at pics from family gatherings, because people would just walk up and snap a shot having NO idea I was nursing at the time. It is amazingly convenient when you have two other little ones you need to keep in tow. I was a home room mom and brought baby in to class when I needed to, and all the little K kiddies thought I was still pregnant when I wore my little man in the sling because he was well concealed. Their sticky little elmer's glue fingers weren't all over my newborn so he was protected from everything. For a sleeping infant I especially recommend this. Again I have to laugh here, because somehow I was able to figure out how to make my sling work up until my son was a year old. I'm not sure why others had such a difficult time... Maybe they bought a sling that was too small in size? Be honest with your size, and re: that you will not be a size 6 again for a long time after baby is born! As a matter of fact, after you deliver the baby, you will still look about 7 mos pregnant, and I didn't bounce back until one year after my first, and it took two years with my third, so take this into consideration. I'm having my fourth child in three months, and can't remember who I lent my sling to, so I need to purchase another which is why I'm on here. Yes, I'll use my Bjorn too, it has it's purposes, especially once baby is big enough to support his/her own neck, but this is the one carrier I took everywhere I went (it fits into the smallest of bags, and I intend to use it in much of the same way with baby number four too. NOW, my husband, well, he preferred the Bjorn, BUT he had to hold up the baby's head the whole time, and couldn't use his hands for anything else - no holding the other kids hands when he had the baby in the carrier. But he was a little nervous with all of the babes when they were small. My favorite was when they would be sound alseep and I could slide them off me and gently glide them into the car seat or crib WITHOUT WAKING THEM. The sling is so slight that you could get baby in the carseat with it still tucked behind them. LOVED THIS PRODUCT! Good luck in making your own choice, and enjoy your new little one! Jen
Fantastic option but you need to do it right Aug 26, 2009 I LOVED this sling! However, I will say I needed a bit of education to get it right. When I first tried the sling I had the same concerns as some of the other reviews (baby being engulfed by fabric, etc), but when I found some instructions on how to do it correctly it made a huge difference and became our favorite way to carry our daughter, we even used it around the house. We are expecting our second child and I am going to purchase another one...we gave our first one to friends. I preferred the new native to the Baby Bjorn because I felt my small baby was better supported in a more natural way...rather than all her weight being on her pelvis. If you are interested in this carrier just take the time to learn how to position it on your own body, and then how to position your baby correctly in the carrier. Good luck!
NB. I did not purchase from this provider, so I cannot comment on their service
Great carrier Jun 28, 2007 The carrier is very travel friendly. I sing "Goin Bye Byes" from Baby clean Fun (www.babycleanfun.com) to my 8 month old as I load her in the carrier to take a walk. It fits in my diaper bag very easily. There are tons of ways to position your baby too.
A waste of money Jun 11, 2007 I should have listen to my wife and get the baby bjorn instead...this thing is a total waste of money. My baby would cry when I try to put her in there...the pouch seems small and I feel as though the baby will suffocate. So, we never even use it...it's now sitting at the corner of my desk. I now use it as a dirt cloth. Got the baby bjorn and can't wait for its delivery.

I'd be lost without it! Simply an essential in our family! Sep 02, 2006 These slings have been an essential part of being parents. Both my husband and I use New Native slings on a daily basis. We've been 'wearing' our daughter since day one and continue to now that she is three months. This helped me tremendously in getting to 'know' my baby. It allows me to be responsive immediately to her needs because I can read her cues before she gets to a full blown cry. It helps me accomplish tasks around the house and makes shopping/running errands easy. We do not even own the detachable infant carseats. I cannot imagine having to lug one of those things around! I feel like this had helped her transition from her womb environment to the outside world. It gives her a sense of security even in new situations. Unlike front facing carriers, she can turn her head into our chests if she feels insecure or overstimulated. There are endless benefits to 'wearing' your baby and I feel like this sling has made it incredibly easy for me and my husband to do so. There are no buckles or rings or fasteners, just slide it on.
If at first you don't succeed, try again later. It may be more comfortable for you and baby at a different stage. Another tip, get moving! The motion is what soothes babies and brings them comfort.
Again, baby wearing is such a wonderful thing. I suggest you read up on the benefits and find a sling/carrier that works well for you.
We recommend this one to all new parents and have never had anyone complain!
